This will be Derrick Jenniges 12th season at the helm of the WWG Chargers program. He will be assisted by Pat Merrick, who is in his 6th year.
Replacing five seniors including two who each averaged over 18ppg will be the early season chore for Coach Jenniges. Senior PG Tristan Joel is back, along with juniors bigs Jacob Otto & Randy Knutson. Freshman Anthony Ross is a youngster with a lot of potential and could crack the starting lineup when the season begins.
Finding time to gel & solidifying roles amongst these players and others on the team will be key in the early season. The Chargers are looking to compete for 36 minutes and to perform well enough to allow them the opportunity to win games. As part of the Red Rock Conference , there is logjam of teams that will be battling for conference and section positioning as they play each other all season. Southwest MN Christian and MCC are the likely top two squads, but the chase for the 3rd spot would be a nice target for this Charger group.
It’s hopeful the Chargers are going to find the other side of the scoreboard after a lot of close losses last season & that they’ll be winning games at the right time to move up the seeding ladder come playoff time.
