A new culture and attitude was started last season for the Mound-Westonka White Hawks. Coach Tyler Biwan came in and did a very admirable job righting the ship and getting kids to love basketball once again. Despite just a 5-21 season, the ship is turning in the right direction. 9 games were lost by just a single digit last season.
Four of the six top scorers return this season. Gabe Wear is a name basketball fans may want to get to know if they don’t already. He is poised to have a strong senior season. He brings back a 13.8ppg average that will likely increase a little this season. Charlie Sir (6.0ppg), Reid Dahl(4.9ppg) & Jordan Jensen(4.2ppg) return and will be looked upon to be bigger contributors this season. A frosh to look out for getting varsity time this year will be Griffin Sage.
Wright CountyWest portion of the conference seems to be headed by Glencoe Silver Lake this season before we play any games. This conference is always talented top to bottom and squads are constantly beating up on each other. Section 6AAA looks to be very wide open and early goals for M-W will be to look to get a higher seed than last season which was a 7.
The White Hawks will have a lot of athleticism again this year. Some experience will need to be gained by the players, but if similar play from last season with good ball control and tempo is there, these guys should see positive results as they play.
