We'll get to some more seeding starting tomorrow and continuing into next week. I thought I would offer my thoughts into some of the small school sections where the choices made may end up controversial or too close to call. Not saying I am right, but thought I would share my reasons why for each.
Most of Class A is already selected or being chosen eventually by QRF. While there might be some of the middle seeded teams flip flopped worth questioning, those should take place of themselves
Section 1AA East: Caledonia or Lake City #1?
Definitely Caledonia should be on top, the did not lose any game that they shouldn't have. Lake City has had a great year. Their recent losses in a row to Stewartville & West Section opponent Byron should put them at seed #2.
Section 2AA South: 3 Worthy of the spot.
I pick it out as 1) Maple River 2) NRHEG 3) Waseca
Both MR and NRHEG have had over half of their season opponents currently playing .500 ball or better. Sure they played a handful of A schools do to their conference they were in, but this year, the Gopher was brutal. Waseca schedule had them playing just 6 teams who are above .500 currently. MR beat NRHEG in head to head, but NRHEG did beat WEM once, who owned MR this season. WEM 4 seed w/ another opportunity to face MR. That is how I see it anyway.
Section 4AA St Croix Lutheran or Mpls Roosevelt
1) St Croix Lutheran 2) Roosevelt Both have been steady all season & it's really tough to choose. SCL went through very high quality opponents each and every time from late December through early February without a loss. I like the Crusaders to gain the top spot.
Section 5AA North Maple Lake or Cathedral
Cathedral plays an overall tougher schedule(maybe) and have seemed to wake up recently as a team who could make a run all the way to the title. I still think Maple Lake deserves the top spot when voting proceeds barring nothing happens prior to seeding. They've been downright awesome all year.
Section 6AA North Sauk Centre or Melrose?
I think the Mainstreeters are currently the #1 seed favorite, but not by much. A recent win by SC over the Dutchmen & the Melrose loss to Morris last night makes me think the way I do.
