Head Coach Mike Kelly & his assistant Jim Lueken return a nice group of players for the 2014-15 Cougar basketball season. After a 15-10 regular season campaign & 8-8 Tomahawk Conferemce performance, Kelly believes his talent coming back can achieve more.
Two seniors, both all-conference performers are back. Andrea Ochs & Courtney Nelsen will set the tone with leadership and consistent performances on the court. A larger set of capable underclassmen will be looked upon to add their abilities to the success of this year’s team. Juniors. Keesha Barnes, Natalie Hoffbeck, Nereida Villegas and Haley Weidman along with Sophomores Lauren Boyle, and Paige Richert all offer some good skills that will be helpful to the team.
Tomahawk conference is deep with talent and good teams. One must be prepared each time out when competing in this league. Early indications have Sleepy Eye, Springfield, & GFW as teams with talent that could be league leaders. The Cougars hope to develop their youth quickly to be able to be mentioned with these teams potentially.
Improving as the season moves forward with hopes of being at their peak come section tournament time is the ultimate goal for the Cougars. Getting the younger players developed and being able to play at the varsity level consistently will be the first goal these Cougars try to achieve.
