Nate Guetter begins year 3 as the head coach at Rocori Senior High School. He has been involved with Rocori hoops overall for 16 years. A solid group of kids coming back will work with Coach Guetter in working to overturn last year’s 4-23 mark.
There is a goal in place for team improvement this season with all intents of being in the hunt for both Central Lakes & Section titles. The kids coming back and the youth coming up are a hungry bunch and do not feel those goals are unrealistic.
Senior Cole Field is back with an 8ppg average and will be looked upon to increase that amount and provide leadership. Junior Austin Overman 8ppg/6rpg/3apg will be asked of the same. A couple of talented sophomores will be watched by many this season. Returning PG Connor Schoborg & 6’6 Derek Thompson will have a certain amount of expectation placed on them as well for Spartans to be successful. Three other juniors, Alec Anderson, Jon Olson, and Ryan Hennen will likely see plenty of action and be contributors too.
The year opens for Rocori with games against two of the top teams in their section Orono & Delano at the Monticello Thanksgiving event. These teams plus St Cloud Apollo are always competitive.
Potentially there will be a few early growing pains, but a new season and 6 of the top 10 kids are underclassmen will bring promise to this program in the seasons ahead. Look for the core to solidify by end of year and be competitive with whoever they may face.
