Stephanie Tolkinen starts begins he 10th season at Park. A group of returning veterans will work with some new varsity members & hope to build chemistry quickly to begin a successful year like last season’s 21-7 mark.
Senior guards Carlie Williams and Annie Williams will be team leaders this season in several way. Coach Tolkinen will hope these two can provide coaching on the court to the newcomers during practices that carries over to games. Junior Ally Gorres is the third returning starter, she’ll be a valuable person in one of the forward positions. Amber Fabeck JR & Jordan Lamberty are two other contributors that will have hopeful success in contributing consistently. Almost all of these girls are capable of going off for a big game.
Newcomers who’ll look to break into some playing time and play roles include Hannah Schwartz & Annie Diamond (SRs), Jenna VanDenAvond(JR), & sophomore Hurji Burka. It is hopeful there are a few others who will crack into the rotations and help the team as well.
Park made it to the Section 3AAAA championship game last season before falling to eventual state champ Eastview. This year’s team needs to replace 20 ppg left behind by Sydney Lamberty, who is now at Creighton University. The Wolfpack may need to begin the season being a little more defensive minded while the team finds its scoring identity with the new team.
White Bear Lake & Roseville are early Suburban East conference favorites, the Wolfpack will shoot for making that a 3 team race. Coach Tolkinen believes her girls can compete with any team they play this season provided each night a few girls step up and score like each is capable of.
