The Patrick Henry Patriots begin year 2 under head coach Jeremy Miller. Coach Miller’s 2013-14 team ended with a 6-6 City Conference record & 9-13 overall. He returns a lot of players this season from last, losing just 2 seniors to graduation.
9 letterwinners return that should get Henry off and running to a good start this season despite playing a difficult schedule. A strong set of senior talent will be an important part to the season ahead. Jacarius Ford, Jermal Dave, Ibrahim Mohammed, Julian Jackson, Stephen Kennedy & Ra Hudnell will be young men expected to contribute. Junior Demetress Edwards-Brown and soph Savion Scott are also looked upon as players who’ll make Henry competitive.
City Conference favorite this season is likely Minneapolis North, the Patriots would like to be a team that makes earning that title not too easy. Henry also has non-conference match ups with Minnetonka, Hopkins Park Center, & Hill-Murray in the Tip-Off Classic. For the second straight year as well, they were invited to play in the Mike Miller Classic at the Corn Palace and Sanford Pentagon in December. Yearly power DeLaSalle looms as the Section 3AAA favorite once again and will be a tough opponent to conquer.
With the returners back and another year in the Coach Miller system, there is a possibility this group of kids will pull as surprise or two. The group needs to remained focus to their task at hand and perform the game plan. Should that happen, the Patriots will have a successful season.
