Brian Pendleton begins his 5th season as the CMC head coach. Coach Pendleton & assistant Mike Freitag will be working with a very young team that hopes to be competitive in the Tomahawk Conference this season.
The Cougars lost 3 starters from last season and another due to transfer, so game experience from most of the returnees is limited. Kids coming back who’ll be looked upon to contribute consistently are: Tyler Evers(SR), Chandler Rose, Preston Maurer, & Drew Dallenbach(JRS) along with freshman Dylan Hillisheim.
GFW looks to be a solid team & early conference favorite, but others like MVL, Springfield, NUC & SESM are teams that are capable contenders as well. The Cougars will attempt to try and find themselves in this mix too. Section 2A has some excellent teams and early favorites coming out of there are United South Central, MVL & ACGC.
Last year’s team finished 14-13 and matching that record will be not be impossible, but getting out and improving each week & being competitive with good focus will be important parts in achieving. CMC normally is a program with a lot of kids who really like to play basketball, the passion is still there with this bunch.
