Zach Otto-Fisher begins year two as the head coach at GSL. He and assistant Jeff Monahan will be working with a young but very talented group of kids this season.
6 girls from the team graduated last year and took most of the team height with them. Stephanie Klockman, now at Gustavus Adolphus, particularly is a huge loss. That leaves the Panthers with an extremely young group to build off of this year and for a bright future.
Sophomore Maddie Monahan brings back very impressive individual stats from last year. She averaged 16.2ppg/6.5rpg/6.9apg/2.8stls/game. She is already just 15 assists away from the school record & has started since 8th grade. She will be one of the youngest players in the state asked to be a main leader for her team.
Maddie’s sister McKenna(FR), Maddy Kalenburg(JR), Rachel Popp(SO), & Zoe Christenson(FR) are kids who’ll be integral parts of this season’s team as well with a lot of playing time. These kids may be young, but are very hungry and willing to work and learn.
Wright County Conference girl’s hoops brings ultra competitive action each and every time out. This group of girls will be challenged each time out by some pretty good groups of kids. Outside the conference games against Minnehaha Academy, Blooomington Jefferson, & Watertown-Mayer will be good tests.
Coach Otto-Fisher states that while some teams see youth as a weakness, he and his staff believe it to be an advantage to teach the fundamentals & work on correcting on those. Also with the youth, the group is coachable and willing to run through brick walls for each other. It is a fun time to be a Panther girls basketball player.
