Kasson-Mantorville boys team will look to improve on last season’s 17-10 mark. Coach Kelly Raymond begins his 2nd season in charge of the Komets. Coach Raymond has a career 256-151 lifetime coaching record and has had many successful programs.
This year’s team will be led by a couple of very tall guards in Derek Flom & Braxton Raymond. Flom, a senior captain, brings back 8.2ppg/2.9rpg/3.9apg from last year. Raymond, the junior, is the teams leading scorer averaging 17.1 ppg last year. These two will be asked to show leadership on both ends of the court for a successful season to be had.
Other seniors who’ll be asked to step up with quality inside play include 6’5 Jacob Murphy & 6’4 Adam Robertson. Both of these seniors had some varsity experience last season that will bode well for them as the season begins.. Other team members that Coach Raymond would like to see dedicated to the team goals this season include: Grant Smith (SR), Caleb Klepel, Cole Kremers, & Jack Peterson(JRS) & Brendan Knoll (SO).
The Hiawatha Valley Gold Division will be loaded with good teams such as Lake City, Stewartville, Rochester Lourdes & Byron to fight with this season. The Komets also play up a class several times during the season. Austin will be the team most Section 1AAA squads will look to dethrone come playoff time. K-M would like to potentially be one of those who can.
With depth at multiple positions and a very good summer season for several players, the season ahead looks promising for the K-M boys.
