Coach Tim Bobeldyk starts his 11th season as the coach at MCC. He returns some quality athletes in which he’s hopeful will mean a very competitive and successful season. Assistant Patrick Freeman joins the Rebel staff this season and will help develop the younger Rebels.
Grant Everson returns for his SR season. He is a quality point guard who puts his teammates in spots to succeed. SR Jaden Boerboom returns as the shooting guard & Logan Kluis(SR) comes back at a forward position. Kluis has put in several summer hours playing AAU to hopefully pay dividends this season. JR Center Grant Rohrer is another talent, who plays a lot of ball all year round and has potential to be a good one. There are also other good numbers on the bench to provide depth that can fill roles and play.
MCC plays in the Red Rock Conference and hopes this is the season they can get out and compete for the league crown. The league is a little more open than in years past, but one can always expect Southwest Christian to be one of the teams to beat. With the Rebels, returning almost all of their offensive production this year, they’d have to be considered as a leader too.
Section 3A sports many solid teams that the Rebels would have to face. Many of the teams are also section rivals. Most of the teams know what to do against each other by the time March rolls around.
The key to the year for the Rebels is for the players to find their identity & role on the squad so they can be successful. Coach Bobeldyk has a real nice foundation of kids to use and make this happen. There should definitely be an improvement on last year’s 10-17 mark.
