John Sheehan as been at the helm of the Lakeville South Cougars for 7 seasons now. This year’s squad returns some very nice talent and will be a team you should not overlook as an opponent.
A positive start is having a point guard with experience & that is what sophomore Jack Sorenson brings to the table. He’s been a starter for the Cougars for three seasons already! SR Benon Larson-Gulsvig & JR Kyle Martin have both been starters to two seasons. Toss in a very talented freshman in Shae Mitchell, that leaves a pretty good group that should improve on the 10-16 mark they had last year.
South Suburban Conference favorites will be Apple Valley & Lakeville North will be the toughest opponents. Playing in that league will provide good competition so that the Cougars hopefully will be in hunt for the Section 4AAAA title in March with Shakopee and Chaska.
Talent is there this season across all classes this year. The program is growing up. Don’t be surprised if this squad is underrated all season long and pulls off some big wins in March. It’s a very capable group.
