The Wolverines of MACCRAY are excited to get basketball season underway. Head Coach Tyler Anderson begins his 3rd season at the helm & sports a career 32-32 record after taking the reigns from long time coach Gary Nelson.
Carter Asche, one of the best Class A hoopsters in the state this season, will be the go to player & be asked provide a lot of the leadership. Classmate Tyler Moffenbier is another player who’ll be asked to provide some numbers in the stat columns.
After that, the weight of the squad falls on several of the underclassmen that will be getting a lot of varsity minutes this season. While being young, these kids bring tremendous energy to the court & will be handling a lot of the guard play for the Wolverines.
The Camden Conference almost always has a couple of state contending teams and this year is no different. Canby brings back a lot & has size. Dawson-Boyd has a gem in Michael Lee with many supporting parts in place. Central MN Christian is steady with some good returners. Teams like this will be in the path of the Wolverines this season giving them very tough conference and section competition.
The season will be dictated to how quickly the inexperienced newcomers will progress as the season goes on. If they improve and provide Asche with quality support late in the season, these Wolverines will surprise some people come playoff time.
