Coach Andy Fenske & his Princeton program come into the 2014-15 season with everyone back and some pretty lofty expectations. The talent is there across several grades who’ll be looking to improve on last year’s 12-15 mark.
At least 11 young ladies are going to see some action as the year begins, but more are waiting in the wings to play as well. This is a nice problem to have, but those who shoot the ball well and limit turnovers are going to see plenty of time. Shooting and turnovers has been a weak spot over the past seasons.
The list of returning kids, including all five starters, this season are: Jenna Doyle, Haley Sandin, Ashley Schramel, Danielle Chmielewski, Anna Oakes & Shannon McGowan (Seniors); Taylor Laabs, Andie Jackson, Miranda Hanson, & Miranda Janssen(Juniors). Contributions from freshman Julia Bjurman are also expected.
The Mississippi 8 conference always has some top teams in the state battling all season long. STMA is always a favorite as their program is strong year in and year out. The Tigers would like to be in the upper half of the leaders.
Section 7AAA is open, Chisago Lakes returns a solid squad as does Grand Rapids. North Branch is another team that needs to be mentioned. Coach Fenske sees his squad as having potential to be in the mix as well. Chisago & North Branch are always in season matchups the Tigers look forward to playing as well.
Haley Sandin & Jenna Doyle are in the Top 10 lifetime scorers at PHS and they’ll be asked to provide leadership and be the anchors to this deep squad. Again, it will come down to how well this squad shoots and takes care of the basketball. If that goes well, this squad is a legit one.
