Crosby-Ironton lost two seniors and brings back a solid group of seniors and also some young player that can be relied upon. Coach Randy Swanhorst in his 15th season(225-152) as head coach sees a lot of promise from this year’s team.
Hallie Schmidt is the highest returning scorer. She averaged 9.6ppg last year. She’ll be joined by experienced classmates, Abby Gindorff & Lauren Peterson. They provided roughly 11 points and 6 boards a game between them and will be looked upon to work to increasing those totals. Junior Cyan Hale got some varsity time last year as did Jami Nelson, who is now a 6’0 freshman. Another frosh would could contribute with some point guard play is Alyssa Klancher.
Conference play looks to be tough as any non-conference game too for C-I. They play in the Mid State Conference where teams like Detroit Lakes & Pequot Lakes seem to be top squads. Section teams looking as contenders early seem to be Pelican Rapids, Hawley, & Pequot Lakes.
Most of last season’s stats are gone, so kids will be expected to pick up the slack. Any number of the returning varsity members are capable to go off on any evening. Coach Swanhorst, along with his assistants John Cragun & Rick Hann will be busy working with this squad and making them competitive on the court every time out.
