Three starters will return to the Dragon’s as Coach Bill Huhner begins his 17th season as head girls coach. Assistants Zack Piepenburg & Jim Musberger also return this season to work with the squad improve on their 8-18 record last season.
Hannah Norlin is one starter coming back who’ll be looking for a great senior season for her team and herself. Norlin averaged 17pts/12rebs last year. She’s a name that might make the #mnballers list next season on a college squad if she wants to. SR Mariah Hoff is a quality point guard returning to help dictate what happens on the court. Sophomore Macy Huhner is a player who’ll make some noise on the court despite her youth. SR Bre Sittig and SO Kyndra Beavers were the first 2 players off the bench last season, so will provide veteran play as well.
Playing in the Wright County Conference means a quality matchup almost every time out. Annandale is likely the early favorite for the league title. Sauk Centre and EVW are top section squads that the Dragons will look to pursue at playoff time. There are some good games vs other quality opponents this season too like NLS, Brainerd, & Foley.
Twelve members of this year’s hoop squad are currently playing volleyball together too, so team cohesion should be settled already if it needed it. Several from JV & C squad last season will be asked to contriubute. Litchfield 9th graders were part of Pacesetter Great Four State representing MN, so talented youngsters are looming.
